ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Douglas Viehman has been promoted to development director for Concord Eastridge. Viehman’s responsibilities include development management of public/private and collegiate projects for Concord Eastridge. Viehman is currently directing the master development of Eagle Village, a $110 million redevelopment project in Fredericksburg, Va., that will transform a retail center into an urban mixed-use project adjacent to the University of Mary Washington main campus. The 21-acre retail center is owned by the University of Mary Washington Foundation, and will be connected to the main campus by an iconic pedestrian bridge spanning the US Route 1 six-lane highway. The first phase of the development includes a 624-bed student housing facility, which will be ready for occupancy in July 2010, and repositioning of the remaining retail component. Future phases will include retail, office and hospitality uses. Viehman has more than 26 years of experience in all phases of institutional, commercial and industrial projects. He studied architecture as a graduate student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, and earned his bachelor’s degree in urban studies and environmental design from the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay.
